Job Summary:
Performs routine and specialized Cytogenetic procedures and microscope analysis.
 
Microscopic analysis. Culturing and harvesting of amniotic fluids, blood, bone marrows, and solid tissues. Slide preparation, staining and coverslipping. Computer imaging and karyotyping. Accessioning specimens. Reporting results to supervisor. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 2 years clinical lab experience required. *Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or physics and less than 2 years clinical lab experience or with a NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary. Must be able to distinguish colors for the purposes of performing laboratory tests required. 
Preferred Qualifications:

ASCP certification as a Clinical Specialist in Cytogenetics preferred.
Work Days:

Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5:00 PM, night weekends and holidays on rotation
