Job Summary: : " 24/7 responder on call " Asbestos and Lead Project Management : Develop and implement policies, procedures and training to ensure safety and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations related to the maintenance and removal of asbestos and lead. " Perform and/ or coordinate assessments and respond to inquiries related to suspect asbestos and lead containing materials. " Coordinate asbestos and lead surveys in accordance with all applicable regulation. " Coordinate responses to Incidental disturbances of asbestos. " Work with construction designers and planners during the design, review and implementation of construction and renovation projects related to asbestos and lead. " Assist departments with cost estimates for asbestos and lead projects. Assists with preparation of contract bid documents, specifications and monitor all contracting activities. " Plan, design, implement and oversee contractor abatement projects and air monitoring activities. " Maintain asbestos and lead testing and abatement records. " Act as Asbestos Supervisor for minor internal asbestos abatement project. " Ensure all program required licenses, permits, fees, plans, notifications, and reports are maintained and processed as required. " Respond to and remediate chemical, chemotherapy drug, and hazardous materials spills. " Perform safety inspections and risk assessments. Recommend remedial action as necessary. " Investigate work-related health and safety concerns and events (i.e., Indoor air quality/ odor, fire safety, general safety, etc.). Coordinate follow-up with departments, EHS, Management and Employee/Labor Relations. " Assist with preparation of compliance reports for internal and external audits (DNV, NYSDOL, NYSDEC, PESH, etc.) " Assist with Hazardous Waste Disposal Program. " Perform other necessary tasks to ensure the safety and health of staff
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Biology or related field and 5 years professional experience in Environmental Health and Safety including asbestos project management and developing and implementing safety programs required. Strong analytical and computer skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills also required. NYSDOL Asbestos Certifications (Contractor Supervisor and or Inspector) required. Must have a valid New York State Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications:

NYS DOL Asbestos Certifications Project Designer and Management Planner. Lead-based Paint Certification.

Work Days:

Mon-Fri, 7:30a-4:00p, On call/ recall and flexible hours based on departmental needs.
