Job Summary:

This position is eligible to work from home and/or in the Department of Psychiatry. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide high quality professional psychiatric care to SUNY students via telemedicine. The Social Worker's primary responsibility is to function as a consultation and referral service to address the psychosocial needs of the patient population served by both inpatient and outpatient areas of Upstate Medical University. Through the use of a wide range of interventions and treatment modalities, the Social Worker contributes to the achievement of optimum health, satisfaction and cost-effective care by addressing the behavioral, social and environmental issues which may impede care. Supervise assigned social work staff. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's in Social Work, New York State LMSW, LCSW, or eligible, 5 years post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience preferred. Expertise in one or more evidence-based psychotherapies (example: CBT/DBT) preferred.  Experience in working with college student populations is preferred.

Message to Applicants: The social worker will provide direct therapy using DBT and/or other evidence based psychotherapies to College Students attending one of the SUNY campuses as part of the SUNY Student Tele-counseling Network (STCN) via HIPAA compliant videoconferencing software. They will also provide live video supervision of 3rd and 4th year psychiatry residents training in psychotherapy. The social worker will additionally contribute to the teaching and supervision of trainees in social work. The social worker will attend yearly hospital required performance evaluations and will maintain needed Continuing Education credits by attending Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds and outside conferences.
