The Patient Flow Administrator (PFA) will provide daily guidance, management and leadership to the Throughput nurses, transfer center nurses, bed manager nurses, and operations of the Discharge Hospitality Center. The PFA, in collaboration with the Associate Director of Nursing for Throughput Operations, will play a significant role overseeing patient movement and hospital throughput in all areas at and between Upstate University Hospital and Upstate Community Hospital. The PFA will focus on achieving timely, appropriate, and safe patient throughput by ensuring sending and receiving units follow hospital policy and procedure, problem-solving throughput issues in real time, and leveraging available technology platforms to improve throughput operations. This role will play a significant part in ensuring adequate hospital throughput to minimize and/or eliminate Emergency Department Diversion.
