Job Summary:
The position shall report to the PUE 2 of HVAC. Will perform performs journeyman level sheet metal work and skilled or semi-skilled work in the related trade of HVAC, in the repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities and equipment. Must demonstrate working knowledge of theory practice, techniques, applicable standard and tools, and equipment used in the primary and assigned trade. For primary trade must be able to perform, but not limited to the following: Demonstrates good knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the sheetmetal trade. Demonstrates working knowledge of the physical properties and characteristics of various metals and alloys used. Plan and lay out sheetmetal work. Reads, interprets and work from plans, specifications, schematic drawings, oral or written instructions. Estimates material requirements of sheetmetal work as required. Works with metals such as steel, iron, aluminum and copper, while also performing skilled and semi-skilled work in the HVAC trade. Skilled and semi-skilled duties may include but not limited to: inspect, operate and check various HVAC equipment to include but not limited to Air Handlers, Fan coil units and various refrigeration equipment.
Conduct building rounds, annotate various readings and discrepancies on provided log sheets. Perform Console Operations consisting of answering and logging customer calls, producing Work Orders, monitor various systems for performance and alarms including the Pneumatic Tube Transfer system, Honeywell Fire System, Aeroscout Temperature Monitoring system, Nurse Call Alert system and other system operations as required.
Ability to work off ladders and scaffolding. Ability to safely use power tools and machinery.
Must be free of facial hair or beard that may interfere with the fit or seal of a mask respirator at the time of fit testing. A mask respirator must be worn in order to comply with State & Federal Safety Health Codes. Reassignment offers are contingent upon satisfactory evaluation from Employee Health Office. Must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications:

Four years of full time experience in the sheet metal trade under a skilled journeyman which would provide training equivalent to an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in the sheet metal trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis. Must possess two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work in HVAC under a supervision of a skilled tradesman or completion of an appropriate two year technical school course.
