Job Summary: Assistant Supervisor in Blood Bank, Immunohematology Coordinator, and Training Coordinator for Blood Bank. Performs routine and advanced Blood Bank test procedures, prepares and issues blood components for transfusion, and orders and receives blood products from ARC. Functions as assistant supervisor in Blood Bank. Functions as supervisor in supervisor's absence. Oversees staff training and provides in-service programs as assigned. Assists with teaching students as required. Assist with administrative responsibilities such as (but not limited to): purchasing and inventory control; data collection for QA reports, blood product utilization, budget preparation, audit reports, error documentation, etc.; test result review; LIS validation activities for software upgrades; preparation for inspection/accreditation; interact with customers regarding test results, questions and follow up on complaints.
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/eligible to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (ASCP or equivalent) plus 6 years of clinical laboratory experience with some previous Blood Bank experience required. Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Must be able to distinguish colors for the purposes of performing laboratory tests.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) preferred. 

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, Days. Rotates weekends and holidays. Works other shifts (evening or night) as needed.
