Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Associate will join a newly established laboratory with projects focused on myelin sheath formation in the CNS. The individual for this position will have lab management responsibilities and conduct research under the direction of the Principal Investigator. This position will include ordering, maintaining laboratory stocks and equipment, assisting with maintenance of a small mouse colony and maintaining laboratory databases. As well, this position will entail varied research-related tasks for data collection, analysis and interpretation of results. Duties may include testing procedures, preparing reports on experiments and data analysis (including statistical analysis and manuscript preparation) and training lab members in experimental methods (including mentoring students). The person for this position should be self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, have strong communication skills and be adept at working independently as well as in a team.
Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field required. Experience in biological data analysis, including statistics. Ability to carry out experimentation and troubleshoot independently. Demonstrated ability to train students in laboratory techniques. Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to convey complex ideas clearly. 
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with standard biochemistry, molecular and cell biology techniques, including Western blotting, PCR, cloning, RT-PCR, fluorescence microscopy and cell culture; Prior experience managing mouse colonies; Prior experience in preparing and publishing scientific articles; Prior experience with lab management; Prior experience with culture and isolation of primary CNS cells; Knowledge in Neurobiology, ion channels and project-related terminology; Experience in electrophysiology; Prior experience with photoactivation techniques;
Experience with calcium imaging; Prior experience with viral transduction techniques. 
Work Days:

Monday- Friday, Days with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed
