Job Summary: Responsible for the development and implementation of all fire and life safety programs in accordance with NYS fire & Building Code, NFPA standards and OSHA safety and health regulations throughout the Institution. Act as Code Coordinator as per Title 19 NYCRR Part 1204. Follow up on complaints related to fire safety & life safety and make appropriate recommendations and advise departments of same. Conduct training in personal safety, fire safety, evacuation, extinguishment, Hospital fire procedure. Conduct building inspections for compliance with life safety and fire codes, investigate and respond to chemical spills, noxious odors, fire alarms and drills, alarm tests and maintain records thereof. Facilitate and supervise maintenance of fire protection systems & equipment. Coordinate annual inspections from Office of Fire Prevention & Control, Dormitory Authority and insurance companies. Facilitate corrective actions and prepare reports. Issue Burning and Breach permits. Other duties as assigned.  
Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and 3 years full-time experience in Fire Science or Emergency Management, or Bachelor's in Fire Protection/Health & Safety or related field plus 1 year fire safety experience or Emergency Management experience. Candidate must have NYS Codes Enforcement Certificate, or be eligible to attain certification within the first year of employment, and have knowledge, training and experience in NFPA Codes and Standards, Life Safety Code, fire alarm and fire protection systems, fire service administration, code enforcement, and emergency response.

Mon-Fri, 7:30a-4:00p, On call and overtime based on departmental needs
