Job Summary: The Secretary II will provide clerical support to outpatient care setting including patient registration, check-in and check-out process. Duties include: greet patient, verify demographic information, generate encounters and notify staff of patient arrival. Schedule appointments, place orders for testing, review need for referrals, authorizations, pre-authorizations and/or obtains information that may be requested by other staff to assure acquisition of these documents. Obtains additional records, reports, e-rays, etc. as needed for providers or other staff. Manage electronic billing for charge entry, obtaining additional information for coding by appropriate staff. Initiate any required insurance carrier regulatory needs such as ABN's or waivers of liability and forward to appropriate staff for completion and/or discussion with patients. Participation in tracking of missing diagnosis and missing charge reports as reported by statistical reports. Use computer systems, CAIS, Epic, Word, GroupWise, Chart Maxx, etc. Use all pertinent office equipment such as copiers, fax, shredders, scanners, etc. Assist with mail distribution and other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:

Two years secretarial/clerical experience required. Ability to multi-task and strong customer service skills necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an ambulatory care setting, working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc), and experience with Medical Data Base systems (Epic and CAIS) for patient registration and scheduling preferred.
