The social worker will work collaboratively with the psychiatric inpatient multidisciplinary teams on 4B, 5W and 7W to meet with patients to develop a safe discharge plan, assessment, and intervention. Knowledge of comprehensive suicide risk assessment, lethal means reduction counseling and safety planning (Stanley Brown) are recommended. Participate in data collection and required meetings as assigned. Additionally, this social worker will supplement the psychiatric social work team to provide cross coverage, conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, arrange follow-up appointments, oversee discharge planning. Previous knowledge and experience with psychiatric population, suicide interventions and OMH regulations are preferred. Other assigned duties and task based upon operational needs. M.S.W from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE); M.S.W., L.M.S.W., L.C.S.W. or eligible, 3 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required. New M.S.W. graduates who are L.M.S.W. eligible will be considered for appointment to entry level (SL2) position at a commensurate salary after obtaining a Limited Permit. Incumbent must obtain L.M.S.W. within 12 months of receipt of limited permit.
