Job Summary: The Payroll Generalist will perform a variety of tasks to include, prepare and process complex payroll transactions and related documents. Answer standard payroll questions, and provide payroll customer service to agency employees by applying policies, rules and regulations issued by the Office of the State Comptroller, the Department of Civil Service and the Division of the Budget. Will process payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, job title and department/division transfers, or other information as needed; Provide payroll information to supervisors, customers and other approved persons; Determine payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments and
other such liabilities as necessary; Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed; Provide internal and external customer service to agency employee; Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and implementing changes; Participate in continuous process improvement efforts to support current
and future systems enhancements; Prepare payroll reports by compiling summaries of information such as earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and nontaxable wages; Maintain the confidentiality of payroll records, Adhere to all New York State regulatory requirements and SUNY policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and two (2) years relevant payroll experience in a healthcare related setting, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience; excellent written/oral communication skills required. Computer skills and keyboarding are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in State Payroll, SUNY Upstate experience preferred.

Work Days:

Monday -Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
