Job Summary:
SUNY Upstate Advanced Practice is leading many new programs and initiatives that require leadership support. This position is critical to support the clinical needs of various clinical service lines, support onboarding & facilitate orientation, complete performance programs & evaluations, scheduling, monitor quality performance, and further assuring safe, evidence-based care.
The APP Team Leader will supervise multiple service lines in similar specialties, responsible for the direction of clinical, operational and administrative initiatives of the APP service in collaboration with physician and nursing leaders. The Team Lead will have 24/7/365 accountability and oversight of the APP team. The APP Team Lead will maintain clinical practice in their area of specialty.
Responsibilities include providing expert level clinical care & coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care assessing & evaluating patients, ordering appropriate laboratory testing & diagnostic studies, arranging for referrals, testing, consultation & therapeutic services, and maintaining outstanding relationships with families, referring physicians & all members of the health care team.
As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program).
- Current NYS Licensure or Registration as a NP or PA.
- Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
- Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire).
- CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
- 3+ years of experience as an NP or PA required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Excellent communication, organization and computer skills with proficiency and expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years experience as an APP Clinical Lead (formal or informal), Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) Certified and formal leadership training.
Work Days:
Monday - Friday, Days with flexibility for evening and weekends as needed
