Job Summary:

SUNY Upstate Anesthesia Team is in search of an Anesthesia Specialist to work in all locations where general anesthesia is provided. 

The Anesthesia Specialist will provide operations based support to the department through day-to-day leadership, by acting as a Shift Coordinator and providing oversight, direction, and adjust staffing plans to support department needs. Assisting staff in completing their assignments and acts as a mentor, while participate with the on-boarding and orientation of new hires.

Key Responsibilities include:

All of the duties required of the Anesthesia Technician, including cleaning, set-up, turnover, and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines and physiologic monitoring equipment.

Provide assistance with airway procedures and placement of invasive lines.

Support the anesthesia care team by coordinating the ordering of supplies, restocking of rooms and carts, and assisting with patient positioning and transport.

Adheres and supports clinical practice policies, maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, facilitates daily anesthesia schedule, and functions as a preceptor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree in a health-related profession AND at least 2 years experience working as an Anesthesia Associate/Technician or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR required.

Anesthesia Specialist /Technologist should have knowledge/understanding of aseptic technique and good communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Operating room protocol experience strongly preferred.

Anesthesia Technologist that has experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital.

LPN license preferred.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, Days with occasional weekends
