Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Services Professional Development & Program Manager is responsible for design, development, and implementation of various initiatives to include but not limited to Transition to Practice, APP Fellowship Program, APP Student placement and CME Education. Is passionate about elevating the level of practice of APPs through professional development and on-going education.  In collaboration with the Director/Assistant Director will facilitate quality improvement and research activities among APPs.  Duties will include quality management, management and evaluation of clinical operations and creating proposals to promote excellence in care and professional practice activities.  This position requires excellent written and verbal communications and excellent computer knowledge in excel, Office 365 and various Upstate platforms. 

Job Duties and Expectations:

  • Maintains collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary team members to include physician leaders, nurse leaders, college representative and community partners. Effectively communicates updates to key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the development of APS APP fellowship tracts through collaboration with APS leadership, faculty, and members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure a streamlined, comprehensive, evidence-based practice driven program.  Assume the responsibility of creating policies, refining content, and developing competencies to guide the fellows during their transition to practice.
  • Work with each clinical team to identify educational opportunities and develop criteria of required and recommended training programs to ensure all APPs on each team maintain the same level of practice, roles and responsibilities, and accountability.  Develop training programs for APPs who are required to obtain new invasive privileges, monitor progress, and ensure proper documentation. 
  • Lead the department in research and educational opportunities.  Support all APPs to navigate evidence-based research and publication opportunities.  Present work and research conducted and achieved by the APS department, at local and national conferences. 
  • In collaboration with APS Leadership, assume responsibility for obtaining Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Accreditation (APPFA), maintaining that accreditation, and pursuing additional APP fellowship tracts which could benefit our department, our employees, and the institution.  Develops and prepares reports, spreadsheets, and presentations; coordinates and supervises completion of special projects and events.
  • Will engage key leaders/stakeholders in the development of strategic initiatives for the department.
  • Compiles and presents data in developing tools and resources for APS leadership.   Requires review of existing policies and development of new policy.
  • Will provide oversight of costs related to APS programs and recommendations to Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant & current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required. 5+ years of experience as an NP or PA required.  3-5 years of progressive leadership in a healthcare environment required.  Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced specialized training in healthcare leadership. Demonstrated experience in developing educational programs, leading teams/new programs. Highly proficient computer skills.
