Job Summary:
The Assistant Director Marketing & University Communications is responsible for developing and executing marketing communication products and other initiatives for hospital and other clients. Develops, refines and implements a wide range of marketing communications, including creating promotional plans; writing for publications, advertisements, videos, websites and other purposes; providing planning and support for special events and campaigns; and creating online content. Serves as the Marketing department representative to multiple clinical groups to promote their services and respond to their requests for services and support. In the development of creating these promotional products, the job includes working closely with graphic artists, web designers, as well as the internal client to achieve their stated objectives. Identifies and searches out opportunities that will enhance the Upstate system and develops proposals accordingly. Participates in a variety of University and Hospital committees, as invited, and attends regularly scheduled meetings with peers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant marketing or communications experience required. Must be knowledgeable about advertising channels and able to prepare materials — including copy, scripts, socials and other content for each venue. Must have excellent interviewing skills to pull relevant information from internal clients and superior writing skills. Must be organized, diplomatic, and responsive to internal clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional marketing communications/agency account service, especially in healthcare or higher education experience preferred.
Work Days:
Typical work week 8:30am-5pm with participation after hours as needed
