Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Financial Improvement Assistant Manager, the Charge Description Master (CDM) Coordinator is responsible for the analysis and coordination of billing and financial system application for effective use within Financial Services Division. Coordinates maintenance of the Charge Description master file to ensure appropriate billing to various third-party payers, responsible for the development and maintenance relative to charge processing and effective education and communication of system functionality, distributes and follows through on all payer notifications to ensure that additions, changes, and deletions are made on a timely basis. Coordinates maintenance of the Charge Description Master file including additions, changes and deletions. Develops and maintains documentation relative to hospital departmental charge processing recommending process changes and improvements as appropriate. Performs other duties and activities as required. Establishes and maintains various internal and external relationships. Internal relationships include General Financial Services, Patient Accounting, IMT, and ancillary hospital departments/managers/service line administrators. External relationships include various third-party vendors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree and three years in a hospital or healthcare related finance office working with patient billing or coding, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent written/oral and interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of CPT-4 and revenue codes, computer skills required.
