Job Summary:
The Children's Surgery Education & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assisting with outreach and education of the children's surgery program. Ongoing education programs in various aspects of the children's surgical care will be offered to practicing physicians, nurses, caregivers, and pre-hospital providers and allied health providers for all pediatric surgery patients. As a Level 1 Verified Children's Surgery Center, Upstate will act as the regional pediatric surgical resource for the benefit of patients, families, and providers. As a key member of the multidisciplinary children's surgery team, this person identifies and analyzes trends to assist in the development of programs consistent with the Children's Surgery Program data. This role will collaborate with Upstate affiliated outreach programs including Safe Kids, Pediatric Trauma, and Pediatric Burn. A key component is raising the visibility of Upstate Golisano Children's Level 1 Children's Surgery Verified Center through public awareness and community outreach activities. This position will incorporate criteria outlined in the most current American College of Surgeons (ACS) Optimal Care Resources for Children's Surgical Care; Level 1 Recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Licensed/Registered RN required. Bachelors degree in Nursing and 3 years of post-licensure acute care RN experience OR Associates degree in Nursing and 5 years of post-licensure acute care RN experience required. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment. Excellent oral/ written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating events, teaching, and evidence based programming preferred. Experience with pediatric surgical patients and pediatric surgical systems preferred. Familiarity with marketing/social media communications preferred.
Work Days:
Monday-Friday, Days with weekends as needed
