Job Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will function as a rotating generalist rotating in tow or more sections of the laboratory (microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry/Microscopy). Perform generalist duties to include specimen receiving and processing; computer related duties such as patient entry, test request entry, on-line/manual entry of test results, data retrieval, printing and answering worksheets, printing panic and pending log sheets; phoning panic values and documenting in computer system; quality control; reagent preparation; following general laboratory safety procedures including universal precautions and chemical and biochemical hazard precautions. Will also preform specific duties within Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry/Microscopy sections of the laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 2 years clinical laboratory experience required. *Candidates with less than 2 years clinical laboratory experience or with a NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary. Must be able to distinguish colors for the purposes of performing laboratory tests.
