Job Summary:

Processes and receives specimens. Performs routine and specialized testing following established policies and procedures and performing appropriate related tasks (QC, PM, calibrations, etc.). Maintains records of testing including patient results, proficiency testing, quality control, instrument calibrations, preventive maintenance procedures, etc. Knowledgeable of factors that may adversely affect test performance and results. Responds/troubleshoots testing problems appropriately or reports problems to supervisory staff. Documents all corrective actions taken. Interacts with customers regarding test results, questions and complaints. Resolves problems in testing, procedures or processes. Knowledgeable of EPIC/LIS/CoPath functions related to testing. Reports results using

LIS/CoPath. Follows procedures for reporting results. Attends section meetings or obtains information from meeting minutes/notes, etc. Completes mandatory training programs. Obtains 12 hours of continuing education credits per year as required by NYS Department of Health.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and two years clinical laboratory experience required. *Candidates without a NYS license who have completed a baccalaureate or higher degree in the major of biology, chemistry, the physical sciences, or mathematics and have extensive experience in molecular techniques may be considered for employment under a restricted license program. *Candidates with less than 2 years clinical lab experience or with a NYS license/ registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary. Ability to distinguish colors required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Molecular methods preferred.  

Work Days:

Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
