Job Summary:
The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through Education, Biomedical Research, and Health Care. Beyond our downtown campus, we provide care through our clinics and offices across the greater Syracuse area.
In support of our ongoing growth we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Providers to join the downtown campus Critical Care Float team. This position will specifically rotate between providing coverage to the Medical ICU and Trauma Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rotate between medical ICU and trauma surgery services during peak months.
- Conduct consults and admissions, participate in daily rounds, coordinate care and improve patient throughput.
- Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
- Perform routine invasive ICU procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team.
As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program).
- NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
- Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
- Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
- DEA License.
- CPR-BLS and ACLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
- 1 year or more of experience in a role in critical care as an NP or PA
- Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing routine invasive procedures in the ICU setting
- ATLS certification
Work Days:
- Days, Evenings and Nights, Rotating Shifts
- Rotating Weekends and Holidays
