Job Summary:

The Data Governance Coordinator will serve as a strategic facilitator and project manager to support the expansion of Upstate's data governance program. This role will focus on coordinating cross-functional initiatives, including the implementation and maintenance of a data catalog, enhancement of data quality and reporting content certification processes, and collaboration with developers and business users from across the organization to improve the overall accessibility and value of Upstate's data. Additionally, this role will ensure that proper safeguards are in place to adhere to data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA, IRB), including determinations around permissions to sensitive information. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating and managing project plans, facilitating workgroup and committee meetings, partnering with technical teams to implement software solutions, developing and disseminating data governance-related documentation, monitoring adherence to policies and standards, identifying and acting upon opportunities for process improvements, and engaging with the Upstate community to promote data governance and stewardship practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, public health, business analytics, or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience in project coordination, program management, data management, and/or, analytics or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business administration, public administration, public health, business analytics, or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience in program management with a strong foundation in data management and analytics. Data governance and data catalog experience, preferably in a higher education and/or healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear and concise writing skills and the ability to effectively facilitate meetings among multidisciplinary groups.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday; 8:00AM - 4:30PM
