Job Summary: Provide leadership and vision for an already successful Department. Promote the pursuit of excellence in research, teaching and other scholarly activities. Identify, recruit, mentor, incentivize and retain faculty who have a passion for biomedical research and the ability to maintain NIH-funded and / or industry-funded research programs of national prominence. Ensure that the financial, physical and personnel resources of the Department are utilized and managed effectively, efficiently, and responsibly. Promote innovative, collaborative, interdisciplinary, translational and entrepreneurial research throughout the Norton College of Medicines clinical and basic science departments. Support and encourage the active participation of Department faculty in the education of medical and graduate students. Provide vision and leadership in strategic planning for the Department in alignment with the goals, priorities, and plans of the Norton College of Medicine, University Hospital, and the State University of New York. Report to the Dean of the Norton College of Medicine and embrace and promote campus core values, including a commitment to open communication, fairness, trust, respect, integrity, diversity and teamwork. Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD or MD or both, a strong track-record of funded research accomplishments, a commitment to education, and a desire to develop and promote the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in national and international circles.

Preferred Qualifications:

A distinguished track-record of funded research in biochemistry and / or molecular biology, and previous success in graduate and medical student education, personnel management, collaborative initiatives, clinical translation, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Work Days:

M-F daytime hours
