Job Summary:
The Assessment, Evaluation, and Feedback Director will collaborate with faculty and leadership to oversee the design, implementation, and analysis of the processes of assessment, feedback, and evaluation within the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program. This role ensures that data-driven insights inform decision-making at all levels, in support of student learning, curricular effectiveness, and accreditation compliance.
Working closely with the UME Associate Dean, Assistant Deans, and Directors, the director will collect, analyze, and disseminate quantitative and qualitative data to support strategic planning, accreditation, and continuous improvement. This role will manage the student evaluation system to ensure faculty and leadership receive actionable feedback on courses, instruction, and overall program effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
" Master's degree in education, assessment, evaluation, higher education, or a related field.
" At least 3 years' experience in assessment and evaluation, in a higher education setting.
" Experience designing, implementing, and analyzing student learning assessments and programmatic evaluations.
" Experience using qualitative and quantitative data for decision making and continuous improvement.
" Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R, Qualtrics, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar).
" Ability to work independently with minimal oversight or supervision, resolving concerns when possible before bringing to supervisor.
" Strong knowledge of assessment methodologies, survey design, and program evaluation principles.
" Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
" Ability to communicate findings to diverse audiences (faculty, administrators, students) in a meaningful and actionable way.
" Ability to collaborate effectively across departments with faculty, staff, and leadership.
" Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at SUNY Upstate.
Preferred Qualifications:
" Doctorate (Ed.D., PhD or equivalent) in education, assessment, evaluation, higher education, or a related field.
" 5+ years of experience working in medical or health professions education.
" Experience working with LCME accreditation processes.
" Experience designing and implementing faculty development workshops related to assessment and evaluation.
" Experience conducting predictive analysis using student performance data.
" Experience using dashboarding tools to create interactive reports for stakeholders.
" Understanding of competency-based medical education (CBME) and its implications for assessment.
" Experience leading focus groups and qualitative research for student feedback and evaluation.
" Ability to develop innovative assessment strategies to improve student learning and curricular effectiveness.
