Job Summary: The Hazmat Instructor will provide the primary instruction for designated staff at SUNY Upstate for all decon/hazmat classes that exceeds the OSHA 1910.120 standards. Assist the department of Emergency Management as needed with training for Specialist Decon Team members comprised of trained Hospital Clinical Technicians and Hospital Attendants at SUNY Upstate. Work with the department of Emergency Management to identify specific dates and times for instruction to maximize attendance for identified staff.  Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in a science or health related field, or completion of at least four years of experience in Emergency Medical Service or Fire Service, with proof of completion of NYS EMT or Paramedic program, and/or HAZMAT experience required. FEMA Incident Command certifications of ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, and ICS 800 are required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior demonstrated teaching experience. Familiarity with decontamination operations for the first receiver preferred.

Work Days:

Rotating shifts: days, nights with some weekends
