Job Summary:
Provides administrative support for department of rehabilitation, primarily by verifying patient insurance benefits and retrieving authorizations. This position is essential for the day-to-day operations of the PM&R Department. The main duties of this role include scheduling appointments for speech, occupational and physical therapy services, pre-registering patients in both EPIC and Well Sky systems, performing and managing all purchasing for the department, organizing and overseeing renewal of contracts and leases for the department and assisting with patient registration and check in/out processes providing support to the front desk team. Without this role, the efficiency of the department has decreased. Numerous individuals are ordering office and medical supplies, often resulting in crossed communications leading to duplicate ordering or delayed crossed communications leading to duplicate ordering or delayed ordering leaving the department without essential products like paper or toner. Contract and lease renewals are taking longer to finalize with appropriate vendors and departments, as the business manager is managing them in addition to taking over numerous other duties of this vacant role, thus leaving less time for other tasks. If we are not able to replace this position, we run the risk of losing patients due to delays in scheduling, especially in the speech therapy appointments. We also risk losing other staff members as we cannot ask them to take on more than they already are without expecting them to feel overloaded and overwhelmed and look for other positions.
