Position Overview:

The Hospitalist APP Clinical Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, clinical coordination, and operational management of the Hospitalist APP Department. This position involves managing clinical performance, ensuring high-quality patient care, and fostering professional development within the Hospitalist APP service in coordination with the Director of APP Services and UCM leadership.

The Hospitalist APP Clinical Manager will also be an active member of the UCM Hospitalist APP team by providing comprehensive clinical care to patients admitted to the Hospitalist service or require a Hospitalist consultation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Oversight
  • Supervise and support the clinical performance of the UCM Hospitalist APP team.
  • Ensure adherence to the Division of Hospitalist medicine clinical protocols and best practices and UUH policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and discuss performance with the Director of APP Services.
  1. Operational Management
  • Collaborate with UCM leadership to implement polices and procedures.
  • Manage Hospitalist APP scheduling, staffing and resource allocation to ensure adequate APP coverage based on the operational staffing needs of the service.
  1. Professional Development
  • Facilitate ongoing education and training for Hospitalist APP team to enhance clinical skills and knowledge base.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the Hospitalist APP team.
  • Mentor and support Hospital APP team in their development of their clinical career.
  1. Collaboration / Communication
  • Assists in fostering a strong working relationship with the entire healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Works in collaboration with the UCM leadership team in leading and directing strategic vision and implementation plan for short-term and long-term growth across the Hospitalist APP service.
  • Assist in the resolution of any conflicts or issues that arise within the Hospitalist APP team and elevate to the Director of APP service as needed.

Qualifications:

  • This full-time position is ideal for a highly motivated and interested PA or NP who looking for a leadership opportunity while still maintaining clinical time.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role, preferably within a hospital setting.
  • NYS license.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse hospital teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • ACLS & BLS required.
  • Current CPR.
  • NCCPA Certification or NP ANCC.
