Job Summary:

Join our growing primary care office conveniently located in downtown Syracuse! This long-standing practice offers interesting clinical exposure, in addition to working with seasoned providers and excellent staff! This dynamic role supports our providers throughout their workday, and our patients during their visits, supporting them with their clinical needs.  You will be a key factor in the patients experiencing a comfortable and thorough visit in our practice as well as working with patient through the EMR portal. This role is critical to the success of our practice and also satisfying for the individual working in it.  Throughout your time, you will learn new things and the work day fly’s by!

The Medical office Assistant functions as a clinical liaison between the patient and the provider.
Position performs, clinical patient care and clerical support activities. Duties include, but are not limited prepare exam rooms for patients before, during and after examinations or procedures; taking and recording vital signs, such as heights, weight, and blood pressure, review medication lists, family and medical/ surgical history, and obtain medication authorization.

Performing standardized routine tests such as phlebotomy and patient specimen collection Works within Upstates EPIC EMR to dictate information to patients, document in their chart, and facilitate/ process prescription refills .
Excellent communication and customer service skills and knowledge of medical terminology for efficient work
Proficient constant use and understanding of EPIC/ EMR, clear concise documentation within of ALL patient interactions and provider directives. Practices highest level of infection control- keeping exam rooms clean and organized, fully stocked and sanitized in between every patient.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant program or one year experience directly related to the medical field; Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.

 Monday through Friday daytime hours
