Job Summary: 1. Primary responsibility is answering incoming calls from patients, referring providers and processing referrals and coordinating the surgeons multiple schedules including clinic appointments, surgery schedule, administrative and academic schedules.
2. Requires exemplary customer service skills with a focus on providing a compassionate, efficient experience as well as the ability to multitask. Individual will engage with diverse populations from varying socio-economic backgrounds and educational levels.
3. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules/ coordinates with the surgical schedulers, as necessary, sending/ receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital noted, referral information ect.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointment; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately Obtains insurance authorizations and pre-certifications in accordance with insurance company policies as necessary. Must be able to attain authorizations through the appropriate websites and by calling the insurance companies directly.
4. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patients rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor and keeping an open-line of communication with surgeon. Also facilities communication between the patients and surgeon.
5. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant program or one year experience directly related to the medical field; Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some clinical administrative experience

Work Days:

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. M-F Full and Part time positions available
