Job Summary:
Functions as Medical Technologist in the Clinical Microbiology Lab. Performs routine and specialized testing. Interacts with customers regarding test results, questions and complaints. Processes and receives specimens. Performs routine and specialized testing in Bacteriology, Virology, Mycobacteriology, Parasitology, and Mycology following established policies and procedures and performing appropriate related tasks (QC, PM calibrations, etc.). Knowledge of factors that may adversely affect test performance and results. Responds to testing problems appropriately or reports problems to supervisory staff. Documents all corrective actions. Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing as necessary. Resolves problems in testing, procedures, or processes. Knowledge of LIS functions related to testing. Reports results using LIS. Follows procedures for reporting results. Attends section meetings or obtains information from meeting minutes or notes. Completes mandatory training programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or related discipline and two years of relevant experience. Certification as Medical Technologist by the ASCP(MT/ASCP). Knowledge of use and limitation of laboratory equipment and/or computerized instruments. Must have excellent communication, leadership, and supervisory skills. Required professional judgment in evaluating complex data and in determining unusual or nonstandard situations.

2:30 pm- 11:00 pm weekends and holidays on rotation
