Job Summary:
This position performs wide variety of routine clerical duties in support of the office requiring frequent contact with patients and their families. Duties include scheduling, registration, visit preparation and billing. Will interview patients and obtain financial, registration and demographic information, arrange and schedule appointments; explain appointments and general process to patients. Responsible to obtain and complete documentation and reports tied to department operations. Medical Accounts Billing and Coding experience desirable.

Promotional:
Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher. Or
Open competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:
One year of clerical experience where majority of work time is spent performing keyboarding, data entry, chart compilation or arrangement or various tasks involving typing into computerized systems.
*Candidates will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates the ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.
Work Days:
Schedule based on a 40 hour work week. Monday- Friday, Day Shift
