Job Summary:

This Research Assistant Professor position is a non-tenure track position, with potential to later convert to tenure track. The successful candidate will serve as lead quantitative scientist and modeler for infectious disease research programs. This position will bridge epidemiology, immunology, and data science to address critical questions in infectious disease transmission, immunity, and pathogenesis through advanced statistical modeling and computational approaches. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with investigators at SUNY Upstate Medical University and external partners while developing an independent research trajectory. The candidate will mentor and train graduate students and junior researchers in quantitative methods, statistical modeling, and computational approaches.

The candidate will share scientific output with being author or co-author of 3-5 manuscripts in the peer reviewed medical literature each year with focus on first or senior author publications supporting the candidate's independent research program. The candidate will contribute substantively to grant applications as co-investigator, with expected progression towards serving as the PI on extramural funding pursuits (NIH R21, R01, K-series).

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Ph.D., degree with independent research experience in biomathematics, biostatistics, epidemiology, computational biology, or closely related quantitative field. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral research experience with clear evidence of productivity and growing independence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of competence in teaching, mentoring, and training at graduate and postdoctoral levels in quantitative methods, statistical modeling, and computational approaches is preferred. Candidates with a 4-5 year postdoctoral experience will be given preference.

M-F 9-5
