Job Summary:

The Senior/Lead Radiation Therapist assumes all the duties of the Radiation Therapist and is directly responsible for the assigned clinical treatment and/or simulation area. This position reports directly to and works in coordination with the Assistant Director (Chief Radiation Therapist) to maintain efficient clinical operations and support Radiation Therapist staff. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and ability to operate equipment and perform treatment/simulations at an advanced level while serving as the resource for providers and staff. Duties include precepting new staff, assess for training/educational needs, assist in developing training; assure therapist competence and contribute to performance evaluations of staff; scheduling patients and coordinating patient services; works with supervisor and department leadership to develop, revise, implement and maintain policies and procedures related to Radiation Therapist staff. Will deliver prescribed doses of high energy x-ray treatment by means of linear accelerators or other radiation producing equipment to patients with malignant diseases; supervise clinical experience of Radiation Therapist students; and create and maintain harmonious relationships with patients and families, physicians as well as other hospitals and associated facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates or Bachelors in Radiation Therapy or completion of approved AMA certified program and 5 years experience as a Radiation Therapist in a hospital or large practice setting required. RT(T) registration and NYS license or eligible to practice as a Radiation Therapist required. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Aria, Epic. Leadership experience preferred.

Work Days:

M-F 8a-4:30p
