Job Summary:

The Senior Pharmacist oversees the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department. Responsible for training oversight while estimating personnel needs to complete assigned work. Ensures pharmacy location compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics. Provides general supervision of daily outpatient pharmacy operations to include supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy aides/assistants, and support staff.

Duties include direct supervision of medication preparation and dispensing, drug monitoring services, patient counseling about medications, interpreting medication orders and prescriptions to ensure that they are complete, safe, rational and compatible with institutional policy, ensuring policies and procedures are followed for the safe operation of the sterile and non-sterile compounding areas and quality assurance functions, including quality improvement projects, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D., NYS Pharmacy license/registration with Immunization Priviledge (or eligible) and five years of pharmacist experience required. CPR certification required by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as, proficiency in the use of computer-based data processing.

Work Days:

M-F 8:30am-8:30pm Sat/Sun 9:30am-6:30pm rotating shifts/rotating weekends
