Job Summary:
The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through Education, Biomedical Research, and Health Care. Beyond our downtown campus, we provide care through our clinics and offices across the greater Syracuse area.
In support of our growth we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Providers to join the regions only Level 1 Trauma Center as a Surgical Specialty evening float.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct Inpatient encounters at the Downtown Campus providing education to and interfacing with primary teams, patients, and families prior to discharge.
- Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team.
- Work collaboratively with the residents and fellows on the surgery services
- Surgery specialties include: Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Burn Surgery
As an APP, you will be an integral member of the surgery team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
- Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
- NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
- CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Inpatient Patient Management.
- Experience in a Surgery Specialty.
Work Days:
Monday-Friday Evenings with rotation into Weekend Days and Holidays.
