Job Summary:
The Workplace Violence Coordinator's main responsibilities include leading and supporting the Workplace Violence Committee by program administration associated with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating Workplace Violence strategies. Determines the level of potential risk through risk assessment and regular rounding and availability to patient care areas to provide training. Incident follow-up and assessment services, assisting in analysis of workplace violence incidents and providing recommendations and additional training. Coordinates enhancements in interdisciplinary communication regarding workplace violence prevention. Use of the Safety Alert Event Reporting System, and collaboration with University Police and Human Resources to collect and compile data on employee injuries related to workplace violence. Tracks advances in Workplace Violence programs and makes recommendations for Upstate University Hospital, collaborating with Upstate Medical University, and Ambulatory sites to contribute to a coordinated Workplace Violence program Upstate-wide.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Safety, Public Health, Public Administration, or in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of related experience required. Strong verbal and written communication is required. Has demonstrated organizational and program management skills. Ability to facilitate both large and small groups for training/education/meetings. Ability to assess complex issues, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to work independently, good organizational skills, and advanced computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in the healthcare field in a position involving considerable judgment and discretion preferred. Instructor certification in some form of de-escalation and mitigation assaultive behavior training (i.e. Managing Assaultive Behavior, Crisis Prevention Institute, AVADE, McAfee Institute etc.) preferred. Background in WVP Program development and implementation in a healthcare setting. Prior experience and training in investigation of workplace violence incidents and response preferred. Specialized training, certification and/or experience in de-escalating verbal and physical assaultive behaviors preferred.
Work Days:
Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00
