Police and Security Careers at Upstate

New York State University Police at Upstate provides safety and security to the students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors of the Upstate Medical University campus. We operate 24/7/365 to provide this service to the campus community. The University Police Department is responsible for enforcing the law and Upstate Medical University policies on campus and all university-owned property.

The University Police Department Police Officers are fully sworn law enforcement professionals with authority equivalent to that of local police officers, including the power to make arrests. University Police Officers are tasked with enforcing federal, state, and local laws, in addition to Upstate Medical University policies.

The University Police Department Security provide around-the-clock protection and service for the campus community. Security Officers assist University Police by providing aid in enforcement of federal, state, and local statutes, along with Upstate Medical University policies.

The University Police Communication Center is the command and control center of the University Police Department. The Communications Officers answer calls to the department from both outside the Hospital and inside.
