Careers at Upstate Center for Children’s Behavioral Health

You can have an important role to help children and teens be as healthy as possible.

About the setting

The BBHU is the first facility of its kind in New York state. Successful candidates for employment will have experience and be comfortable working with children who have an intellectual or developmental disability, a mental health diagnosis, and engage in challenging behavior.

The patients being cared for have multiple mental and behavioral health diagnoses. The new unit on Madison Street will provide behavioral and mental health care, and one-to-one assisted living care, to children 5-17 years old. The goal of the unit is to help stabilize patients so they may return to their homes and activities. Without the new unit the children would have to travel out of state for this care, which is currently available nowhere else in New York.

  • As the children stay overnight in the inpatient unit, the unit is staffed 24/7.
  • Here you will work with experienced professionals and be part of a great team.
  • Build a valued career that also is important to the community.
