Job Summary:
- The Behavior Specialist fulfills objectives within the mission of the assigned unit. Duties includes: involvement in assistance with daily living tasks while ensuring patient's privacy and dignity are respected, data management, participation and supervision of implementation of behavioral treatment procedures. Responsible for parent training & meeting regularly with case manager to participate in discussions and planning. The Behavior Specialist will use time efficiently and productively in the absence of specific assigned responsibilities, accept responsibilities and conduct oneself in a professional manner. Will also identify problems and suggest strategies for resolving issues, interact with colleagues in a positive manner appropriate to audience and format, maintain confidentiality in all patient related activities, utilize safe and appropriate handling, and management and guidance procedures when transporting or working with patients. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree (or higher) in Psychology, Education, or a related field (required by time of appointment) and two years of applied behavioral or healthcare experience required. Ability to physically manage patients required. Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and behavioral data collection software (e.g., BDataPro) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred. Experience with individuals with developmental delays and/or applied behavior analysis preferred. Prior experience working as a Mental Health Therapy Aide (MHTA) at the BBHU preferred. Enrollment in a master's program for applied behavior analysis preferred.
Work Days:
Monday - Friday Day shift
