Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Billing Specialist with demonstrated experience in medical billing processes and strong proficiency in billing systems and accounts receivable management. The ideal candidate will provide advanced operational support within the Rheumatology department, including detailed account review, issue resolution, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.

This role requires the ability to research and document complex billing issues, maintain high accuracy in charge and payment posting, and guide billing staff in adhering to established procedures. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast paced environment, possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the ability to balance both routine billing tasks and higher level problem solving responsibilities.

The Billing Specialist is responsible for a wide range of billing duties that require solid knowledge of billing systems, established procedures, and effective problem solving methods. Working under general supervision, this position handles both routine and non routine billing functions with a high degree of independence and accuracy.

CLERICAL PRACTICE

  • Billing Operations Performs all routine tasks, including charge posting, payment posting, insurance form submission, file and record maintenance, prior authorizations and responding to patient questions related to charges and insurance
  • Issue Research & Documentation Investigates and documents billing issues that fall outside standard procedures, ensuring accurate resolution and proper follow through
  • Accounts Receivable Follow Up Monitors outstanding balances, communicates with payers or patients as needed, and ensures timely collection activity
  • Independent Work Skills Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining speed and accuracy
  • Interpersonal Communication Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, coworkers, and insurance representatives
  • Software Competency Proficiency with computer applications specific to medical billing and office operations
Minimum Qualifications:

High School degree or equivalent and two years clerical support in a medical billing setting. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.

Monday - Friday daytime hours
