Job Summary:

Primary responsibility is patient check out from a busy nurses station utilizing knowledge in the following: Capable of logging in and maintaining computer access to EPIC, synapse, CAIS, etc. Excellent verbal communication required and proficiency in overhead paging, proper documentation of messages, and transferring phone calls is critical. Proficient in utilizing EPIC EMR for scheduling and ensures that patients have been given necessary paperwork (prescriptions, orders for physical therapy, DME, out of work/school/gym notes, AVS etc.) at check out.

Well versed in HIPAA regulations to prevent violation. Coordinates patient flow to various departments in the office or building (castroom, xray, MRI, CT, Hanger Clinic, UPL etc.) Works closely and maintains good communication with patient care to address patient scheduling issues along with pod and provider needs. Able to act as liaison between patients, physicians, office staff, and outside contacts. Acts as main point of contact for the pod and assists Pod Leader in notification of absences to other staff outside of the immediate pod and communicated the revised coverage plan as well. Maintains provider check out log and submits to billing. Knowledgeable and capable of implementing emergency policies and procedures. Other tasks and duties as needed and directed by Supervisor, Pod Leader and Providers.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school or equivalent and two years of directly related medical secretary/office experience. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
