Job Summary:

The Director of Quality and Patient Safety is responsible for integrated, system wide programs for performance improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance within the quality management system of the hospital. Provides policy guidance to senior hospital administrators on matters related to quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Engages and coaches healthcare teams about quality assurance and performance improvement science, policies and procedures, incident command, DOH, OMH, and DNV related activities. Responsible for leading and coordinating quality assurance, performance improvement and regulatory activities and ensuring proper regulatory reporting. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes A-Team concept and reflects the goal of providing seamless support for patients. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of upstate University Medical system and its efforts to provide high quality and safe patient care. Provides leadership for the onsite quality assurance and performance improvement analysis for the system. Assists the Chief Quality Officer and the Associate Chief Quality Officer in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the quality management system and the departmental goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing with a minimum of five years of healthcare quality experience involving quality assurance, performance improvement or related required. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) required. Demonstrated accomplishments in a complex organizational environment required. Interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with the public (internal and external) from a customer perspective. Strong analytical skills, outstanding written and oral communication skills, computer literacy and application skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a teaching hospital, healthcare, or public service institution preferred.

Monday-Friday, days
