Job Summary:

The Director of Rehabilitation Therapy reports to Administrator of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Upstate Neurological Institute and provides strategic direction, coordinates all Rehab Therapy operations & finances. Will be working with medical directors, multispecialty team, nursing, business director, and business managers. Will be knowledgeable of all Rehab Therapy modalities provided to include assessment, care planning, therapy treatment for inpatients and outpatients, performs patient and family education in Rehab Therapy. Responsible for the overall direction of rehab therapy within Upstate Medical University and assists in day-to-day management planning, growth expansions and organization of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Supervises associate directors and assigned staff, interviews, selects and directs orientation of new staff, completes performance evaluations, acts as a liaison with medical staff regarding patient needs, completes budget needs, adheres to policies and procedures, is responsible for all aspects of patient treatment of assigned caseload, and participation in hospital committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed & registered Physical Therapist with Doctor of Physical Therapy OR NYS licensed & registered Occupational Therapist with Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy OR NYS licensed & registered Speech Language Pathologist with Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology required. Minimum of six years of experience to include four years in an administrative/supervisory capacity required. CPR/BLS certification required by time of appointment.

Monday - Friday, rotating weekends and holidays
