Job Summary:
Will perform M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Doppler exams, assist with exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms, prepare reports for physician review on our GE reporting system, assist the department in posting appropriate charges of services rendered, participate in quality improvement initiatives. Experience with ultrasound contrast agents is preferred.
- Prepares for examinations by checking equipment, taking inventory of supplies, replenishing stock as needed, reviewing physician orders and patient schedules, readying recording equipment, and inputting patient information.
- Manages patient stress by patiently explaining exam procedures, answering questions, and providing ambulatory assistance as needed.
- Alerts appropriate medical staff of any abnormalities that need immediate attention.
- Produces high-quality imaging by accurately positioning transducer, monitoring display, listening to signals, adjusting beam strength and focus, detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities, and recording images.
- Records examination details as instructed by documenting data and graphics, producing measurements of the heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity, and comparing measurements to established norms.
- Cares properly for sonography equipment and reports equipment failure to appropriate person(s).
- Observes all safety policies and protocols for patient protection.
- Maintains the strictest levels of confidentiality by following established procedures to safeguard confidential information and advising others regarding possible breaches.
- Keeps job-related knowledge up to date by taking advantage of educational opportunities, networking, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
- Works independently or with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in an Allied Health field or equivalent, previous cardiac ultrasound experience, and Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or eligible required.
Candidate who possess an Associate's degree in an Allied Health field with cardiac ultrasound experience and who are not RDCS or eligible will be considered for appointment to an entry-level training position. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.

G7: $27.00 - $40.80
