Job Summary: Refugee Health Clinic Volunteer at Refugee Resettlement Center, CYO. This position consists of triaging newly arrived refugees and integrating them in the American Health System. Volunteers take a patient history, perform routine vital signs, and in conjunction with a medical doctor and their caseworker, craft next steps for patients, including making appointments. Volunteers also aid in immigration applications by advising refugees on vaccine requirements to obtain their permanent status in the U.S. Many volunteers speak multiple languages and serve as translators and cultural bridges with the population we serve. Additional activities and hours may arise to meet the community needs for Annual Refugee Health fair in October and Refugee Vaccine clinics (once a month on a Sunday afternoon). Weekly Hours: Tuesdays: 8:30am to 2pm AND Thursday: 12pm-6pm. and as needed. Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.

Salary Range/Pay Rate:

$17/HR
