Job Summary:

The department is actively seeking students with immediate availability to work on ongoing cancer research projects. The student will assist in conducting translational and clinical cancer research in collaboration with other clinical departments (hematology-oncology, urology, radiology) and disciplines (computer science, bioinformatics, epidemiology). Current projects include but are not limited to Digital tissue biomarker assessment for improved management of high-risk prostate cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients using image analysis and computer vision methods." The projects are highly collaborative and require assembling retrospective research cohorts of SUNY Upstate patients. 

Duties: Students will perform rigorous chart reviews and extract clinical and pathological information from the electronic medical record (EMR) systems: EPIC and Co-Path. Additional responsibilities include data curation and management using REDCap, as well as data analysis and presentation. 

Requirements: Students must be enrolled in a graduate Medical, Health Sciences, or Public Health program. The position requires a part-time research commitment to be discussed with the mentor beforehand. Required skills include patient chart review, advanced understanding of oncology, data curation and management using REDCap, and data analysis and presentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.

  $17/hour
