Job Summary:

Primary duties will include:

 

1. Utilizing the Brightspace educational communication platform to deliver course materials, assignments, and assessments to UAS students.

2. Collaborating with faculty and staff to develop engaging and interactive online learning experiences tailored to meet the needs of students.

3. Using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, to create and modify educational content, including presentations, documents, and spreadsheets.

4. Leading online synchronous sessions, discussions, and activities to enhance student engagement and foster active learning.

5. Providing support and guidance to students in navigating the Brightspace platform, accessing course materials, and submitting assignments.

6. Monitoring student progress and performance, providing timely feedback, and grading assignments in accordance with established criteria.

7. Assisting with the creation and maintenance of course schedules and calendars to ensure timely delivery of instructional content.

8. Collaborating with faculty and staff to identify and implement best practices for online teaching and learning.

10. Completing administrative tasks as assigned by supervisors or program coordinators.

 

Duties in Detail

 

Input into Curriculum:

  • TA’s on the Brightspace educational communication platform are responsible for providing input into the curriculum. This involves collaborating with curriculum designers, administrators, and other educators to develop, refine, and adapt the educational content that students will engage with.

  

Input into Grading:

  • TA’s are responsible for providing input into grading on the Brightspace platform, which involves assessing student performance, providing feedback, and assigning grades or scores to various assignments, assessments, and activities.

  

Creating Schedules:

  • TA’s play a role in creating schedules on the Brightspace platform, which involves planning and organizing instructional activities, assignments, and assessments within designated timeframes or units of study.
  • TA’s may collaborate with administrators, curriculum designers, and other educators to develop a master schedule or calendar that outlines the sequence and timing of instructional units, lessons, and assessments throughout the summer program.
  • They may also create weekly or daily schedules for their own classrooms, specifying the timing and duration of instructional periods, breaks, and transitions.
  • Creating schedules allows teachers to effectively manage instructional time, allocate resources, and optimize learning opportunities for students.
  • TA’s may also use scheduling tools or features within the Brightspace platform to communicate schedule changes, reminders, and important deadlines to students and parents, fostering transparency and accountability in the learning process. 
Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.

Work Days:

2-4 hours per week for 8 weeks, from May 27, 2024, to July 17, 2024,

Salary Range/Pay Rate:

  $16/hour
