Job Summary:
SUNY Upstate Pediatric BERT Team at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivative Nurse Practitioner to be a part of their multidisciplinary program dedicated to providing behavioral crisis intervention and support for all hospitalized children. This role offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively across disciplines while helping to enhance and expand an innovative pediatric behavioral response program.
The Nurse Practitioner will rotate through all shifts, including weekends, and will play a key role in program coordination, standardization of care, nursing support, and ongoing program development. In addition, the position includes providing half-time medical coverage with the Pediatric Hospitalist Service.
Golisano Children’s Hospital serves a 22-county region and provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services for children from birth through age 19. Position based in a Level I Trauma Center that provides Critical Care and services to patients across a 17+ County Region. Scheduling is determined based on operational needs. Upstate operates 24 hours a day/Seven days a week, providing continuous care to our region.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide expert level clinical care & coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care.
-Assessing & evaluating patients, ordering appropriate laboratory testing & diagnostic studies, arranging for referrals, testing, consultation & therapeutic services.
-Maintaining outstanding relationships with families, referring physicians & all members of the health care team.
-Additional responsibilities include support of front-line staff, education, and data collection and analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
- NYS Licensed/Registered NP.
- Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
- Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
- CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
- Additional mental health training at the time of hire or within 6 months (examples: dual certification as PHMNP-BC, PMHS certification or other formal education or training programs in behavioral health, pediatric behavioral health crisis management and/or trauma-informed care)
- Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
Pediatric Inpatient experience and QI experience preferred.
Work Days:
Rotational coverage for Day, Evening, and Night shift, including Weekends and Holidays. Based on operational needs
Shifts may range from 8 to 12-hour shifts.
