Job Summary:

Responsibilities of the graphic designer include consulting with faculty, staff, and students to determine graphic design and printing or publication needs. Graphic designs and layout design services may include research posters, brochures, charts, certificates, logos, photo composites, patient education materials, info-graphics, and large format printing. The designer creates charts and graphs from scratch and offers technical support to faculty, staff, and students. Work is done almost entirely independently, and jobs are recorded and reported based on labor and products created. This position may also assist with front desk duties in the Photography and Graphic Design Office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Arts or Fine Arts (BA/BFA) in Graphic Design and at least 1 year of full-time graphic design experience, or an Associate's degree and 3 years of graphic design experience.
  • A strong portfolio of graphic design work.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • A strong, demonstrable knowledge of layout, typography, and color theory. Excellent communications skill, both written and oral, are vital.
  • The ability to understand customers' needs and present ideas clearly is important. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines is essential.
  • The candidate should have the ability to think creatively and adapt to changing trends and technology, as well as changing demands from customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with large-format printing tools and techniques, including layout, mounting, and handling. Knowledge of web design tools (HTML/CSS), motion graphics, or photography experience is beneficial but not essential.
