Job Summary:

SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Providers to join the Medical Intensive Care Unit Team 3!

As a part of Upstate’s APP Team development of the Medical ICU, the APP-led MICU team provides comprehensive 24/7 coverage to ICU and Stepdown patients throughout the Upstate Medical Center Downtown Campus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide independent Critical Care and Stepdown management for MICU patients
• Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
• Perform appropriate bedside procedures.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, physicians, residents, fellows and all members of the health care team to ensure open communication and appropriate care coordination.
• Rotating shifts to include Days, Nights, Weekends and Holidays

As an APP, you will be an integral member of the MICU Team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program) or eligible by time of appointment.
• Current NYS Licensure or Registration as a PA or NP.
• Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice. 
• Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire)
• CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year or more of experience in a Critical Care APP role.
• 1 year or more of experience with Bedside procedures.

Work Days:

Role requires 24/7 independent APP coverage. Including: Days, Nights, rotating Weekends, rotating Holidays, and future On-Call needs.

Scheduling is determined based on operational needs.

Upstate is a Level I Trauma Center that provides Critical Care and services to patients across a 17+ County Region.  Upstate operates 24 hours a day/Seven days a week, providing continuous care to our region.
