Position Summary & Qualifications

Mental Health Therapy Aides provide care, support, and behavioral interventions for children and individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities. Working under the supervision of licensed clinicians, you'll help patients develop life skills, increase independence, and achieve personal goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program, during this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Mental Health Therapy Aide, SG09 title.

For consideration for this title, you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:

1: Graduated from high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (such as a GED)

  • Ability to physically manage patients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, education, or human services
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Work Days:

Part-time and Full-time Mental Health Therapy Aides wanted for various shifts & locations.
